Annual Membership Drive & Open House
June 15, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
The Sabine Council on Aging, Inc. is hosting their Annual Membership Drive/Open House on Friday, June 15, 2018. The event will be hosted from 10:00 a.m.—2:00 p.m. at our Converse, Florien, Many, and Toledo sites.
An active participating client can also be a member by filling out an application. The difference between members and clients are listed below.
A member is any Sabine Parish resident 18 years of age or older who has an interest in the well-being of the seniors of our parish. Being a member also entitles the person to vote at the Annual Board Meeting when new board members are elected. There are no membership dues.
An active participating client is any resident of Sabine Parish 60 years of age or older, who has been assessed by the SCOA and is either receiving SCOA services or is participating in any of the activities provided at any of our four locations.
The Sabine Council on Aging fan drive began May 15 and will continue through June 15. Help a senior citizen stay cool and safe this summer by donating a fan or two.
Please accept this as an invitation to enjoy refreshments while meeting our staff and clientele.
The SCOA was honored to be part of the Sabine Relay for Life 2018. We raised a total of $1,210.50. We would also like to thank Dorthy Alford for donating her beautiful Dresden Plates quilt that we raffled off.
The Sabine Council on Aging’s Annual Summer Fan Drive has provided outreach and relief to the senior citizens of Sabine Parish.
The idea is simple: an inexpensive fan to provide some relief from the searing Louisiana Heat.
The SCOA Annual Summer Fan Drives will kick off on May 15, 2018. On May 29, 2018 we will have a live remote on KTEZ & KWLZ from 10:30 am–12:30 pm.
Donations can be dropped off at our Legacy Building (Many):
200 Legacy Drive, Many, LA 71449.

Every May, the Administration on Aging, part of the Administration for Community Living, leads our nation’s observance of Older American’s Month. The 2018 theme, Engage at Every Age, emphasizes that you are never too old (or young) to take part in activities that can enrich your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. It also celebrates the many ways in which older adults make a difference in our communities.
Participating in activities that promote mental and physical wellness, offering your wisdom and experience to the next generation, seeking the mentor-ship of someone with more life experience than you—those are just a few examples of what being engaged can mean. No matter where you are in your life, there is no better time than now to start. We hope you will join in and Engage at Every Age!
